Third Kulture Films specializes in creating impelling and engaging non-fiction content that can be screened on various platforms as well as used for community media projects. Passionate about story-telling and unveiling human experiences, Third Kulture Films creates long form documentaries, short form documentaries and online videos, as well as trains communities and young people with documentary story-telling and video production skills.
Why Third Kulture?
A twist on the idea of the “Third Culture Kid” - a person who defines their culture as more than just the blend of home and host cultures.
This concept of a “third culture” is defined by “the Other” – the option that is not the simple “yes” or “no”, but rather the “grey area”. The mission is to innovate and strategize ways to use multiple platforms (online and offline) to tell stories, to disseminate information and to engage people to act upon it.
Ruchika Muchhala
Ruchika is a documentary filmmaker and new media producer.
She is of Indian roots, though born and raised in Indonesia and later Singapore. Upon completing a dual B.A. in film/video and social sciences at The University of Michigan, she has been shuffling between Mumbai, New York City and Singapore for nearly a decade.
As a global nomad, she considers these cities as coordinates on the map where she feels most at home. However, with the belief that the concept of ‘home’ exists on multiple platforms and not just a geographical location, she is driven by stories and being able to convey the raw and unfiltered human experiences.
