Third Kulture Films specializes in documentary films, short video content for the web and filmmaking training workshops. Most of the companies we work with are Not for profit organizations based in India, though we are expanding and believe in using social media and the new media platform to produce “virtually” under tight deadlines.
Ruchika Muchhala
Ruchika is the founder of Third Kulture Films as she produces documentaries under the company name. She is of Indian roots, though born and raised in Indonesia and Singapore. She graduated with a film/video and social sciences B.A. at The University of Michigan and has been working and living in Mumbai, New York City and Singapore since. As a global nomad, she considers all three of these cities as coordinates on the map where she feels most at home.
Why Third Kulture? It comes from the term “Third Culture Kid” - a person who defines their culture as more than just the blend of home and host cultures. I tend to believe that this “third culture” is defined by “the Other” – the option that is not the simple “yes” or “no”, but rather the “grey area”. My films and concepts are about capturing this ?grey area? and exploring the layers of complexities within cultures and institutions.
